I’ve been playing music since I was 10 years old – starting on the piano and trumpet, and moving on to guitars of all forms, and ukulele. Singing has always been a big part of the music I do, and as guitars and ukes are ideal for this – they are the instruments I’ve focused on – but I also enjoy using the bass, keys, and dabbling on the English Concertina.

I’ve recorded a few collections of music in my time, most recently under the name Nikko Fir – which allows me to collaborate with other musicians without changing the name.

I’ve been teaching music since 2006, and have taken it up as a career since 2011.

In 2018-2019 I collaborated with old band member Meilyr Wyn to produce a new Nikko Fir EP – Cold Shock, and we started producing videos for Youtube in 2019.

In 2020 I started livestreaming tutorial videos on youtube during the COVID-19 lockdown, and now produce ukulele and guitar videos on my Aquifer Music Youtube channel.

These days I teach guitar, ukulele, bass, theory, and run lots of music groups in Macclesfield – Macclesfield Music Centre Adventurous Ukulele group, Cre8 Music, several local primary schools, Claritas Choir (East Cheshire Hospice), and occasionally find time to perform locally.
